Early Help Offer

Early Help at Brabin’s Endowed Primary School

At Brabin’s Endowed Primary School, we understand that every family faces challenges from time to time. Sometimes a little extra support at the right time can make a significant difference to a child and their family.

As a small, caring school community, we pride ourselves on the strong relationships we build with our children and families. We believe that by working together we can help children feel safe, happy and successful both in school and at home.

Early Help is about identifying needs as early as possible and providing support before concerns become more difficult to manage.

What is Early Help?

Early Help is support for children, young people and families when problems first emerge. The aim is to provide the right help at the right time to prevent difficulties from escalating.

Early Help may be appropriate when families need support with:

  • Emotional health and wellbeing
  • School attendance
  • Friendships and relationships
  • Behaviour at home or school
  • Parenting support
  • Family circumstances or changes
  • Housing or financial concerns
  • Bereavement and loss
  • SEND-related needs
  • Building confidence and resilience

Early Help is a voluntary process and works best when families, schools and other services work together.

How We Can Help

At Brabin’s, we know that no two families are the same. We take a strengths-based approach, focusing on what is going well whilst identifying any areas where additional support may be helpful.

Support may include:

  • Advice and guidance from school staff
  • Pastoral and emotional wellbeing support
  • SEND support and guidance
  • Attendance support
  • Signposting to local services
  • Accessing support through Lancashire Family Hubs
  • Completing an Early Help Assessment where appropriate
  • Coordinating support from other agencies through Team Around the Family meetings

What Happens if I Need Support?

If you have concerns about your child or family circumstances, please contact school. We will listen, discuss your concerns and work with you to identify the most appropriate support.

In many cases, support can be offered directly through school. Where additional support is needed, we may suggest completing an Early Help Assessment.

An Early Help Assessment helps everyone understand:

  • What is working well
  • What the child and family need
  • What support may be helpful
  • How we can work together to achieve positive outcomes

Parents and carers are fully involved throughout the process.
